Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course- A beneficial training program for career growth

The whole surrounding around us is a machine, which you can bolt or unbolt anytime. The machine lovers lead to the mechanical or aeronautical engineering in India. Students who want to work in an aviation industry can study the aircraft Maintenance Engineering course at any institutes. This course is not a degree and diploma course but training program that trains the candidates about the working of the machines of the aircraft.

Main areas of aircraft engineering

The engineering has three major sectors such as aircraft designing, manufacturing, maintenance, and flying. The slight difference between the maintenance engineering and aeronautical engineering is Aeronautical engineering includes the application of the engineering principles and the technical knowledge- how to design the aircraft, construct, and operate the aircraft. Aircraft maintenance technicians are responsible for the upholding and keeping the aircraft perfectly in flying condition. The whole course involves the maintenance of the jet.

Duration of the course

This course is the three-year training program, an applicant who successfully finishes the program with the good percentage of marks are eligible to get a license from the DGCA (Directorate General Civil Aviation). The candidate should choose the institute authorized by the DGCA. The AME (Aircraft maintenance engineering) has two major streams:

The first one is mechanical that includes the jet and piston engines of the light and heavy aircraft.
The second stream is Avionics that covers the radio navigation, electrical, and instrument system.

Syllabus during the training program

The first year of the course provides the basic training about the aircraft rules and regulations.
The second year students learn the general engineering of the jet and its maintenance.
The subjects in the course are aerodynamics, metallurgy, electronics, handling equipment, practical in a machine room, and theory and practical of the aircraft engines.
The third year focuses on the light, heavy, and piston engineering of helicopters and jets.

Eligibility to get admission

The Aircraft Engineering in India is in demand; the candidate who wants to join these institutes must have passed 10+2 class with at least 50% of the marks in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. The candidate whose age is 23 years up to the form filling date is eligible to fill the form. There is a relaxation of upper age limit for the candidates who have already completed the 3-year diploma course in engineering or B.Sc after 10+2 in science stream with mathematics.

Who can join the institute?

The course is open for man as well as women. After completion of the course, the student has to appear for the Aircraft maintenance license exam organized by the DGCA. The issue of the license is only for the particular type of aircraft. Hence, the candidates who have a license to engineer Spice jet planes are only liable to inspect Spice jet planes and certify its fitness, not other planes.
